Be born in Christ!

This is what the new Archbishop of San Antonio Gustavo García-Siller says in a special Christmas message which will air December 20, 21, and 22 on Prepare The Way.

Archbishop Gustavo emphasizes the need, not only to welcome Christ into our lives and give him posada, but the need to accept His invitation to live inside Him where He wishes to give us posada – a place, a welcome that will never end.

Yes, Christmas is the time of year during which, in a special way, we celebrate the historical fact that the Son of the Living God, the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity, Jesus Christ was born among us and for us. But… we are now called to be born in Christ – to abide in Him, to live within Him, and to allow Him to live inside of us.

For this to happen, we need to step aside; we need to step outside of ourselves and enter into Christ and experience a rebirth until we become, in the words of St. Paul, a new creation, another Christ.

Are you a born again Christian? That’s what we are called to be! Of course, you are – if you have been baptized. But, are we living like born again Christians? Are we living that new life in Christ received at baptism and nurtured by the sacramental and liturgical life of the Church? Are you deepening that new life in Christ through personal prayer and service, through lectio divina (prayerful reading of Sacred Scripture) and other means of deepening communion with Christ? Are you living inside of Christ, making Him the center of your life, taking on the mind of Christ, His attitudes, and His way of seeing and being?

Enjoy the viewing on TV or online – and allow the Good Shepherd’s voice calling you to deeper communion with Him to make a lasting difference as we enter into the Christmas Season.
