Houston, We’ve Got A Problem

College campuses… concerned Catholics… we’ve got a problem… But we also have a solution.

  • 85% of college students don’t attend Sunday Mass
  • Binge drinking, sexual promiscuity, moral relativism is rampant on campuses
  • Students don’t know their Catholic faith well
  • If the trend continues we will lack a sufficiently large number of faith-filled, virtuous, truly Catholic young people to lead the Church and transform society for the better in the future.

One very good solution:

FOCUS, the Fellowship of Catholic University Students, is a national campus outreach that meets college students where they are and invites them to examine the meaning and purpose of their lives. Through large group outreach, Bible studies and one-on-one mentoring, FOCUS staff members are equipped to introduce college students to the Person of Jesus Christ and the Catholic faith, empowering them to share His love with the world. Each missionary receives over 400 hours of formation and training in catechesis, evangelization, stewardship and leadership development. They…

  • Draw students into a relationship with Christ and His Church
  • Give students knowledge of the Faith and teach them to practice virtue
  • Call leaders to win others to a relationship with Christ and His Church

  • The presence of FOCUS on college campuses since 1998
  • More than 4000 students involved in FOCUS nationwide
  • Thousands of students in Bible studies
  • Thousands of practicing Catholics active in parish life
  • More students going to Mass, confession, parish/campus ministry events
  • 171 men and 65 women have entered seminary or religious life over the past 11 years; countless faithful marriages
  • Students are dealing with real life issues and making real life changes
