Are you a Paul or an Ananias? “Get up and go…”

Today’s Feast of the Conversion of Saint Paul the Apostle has two different options for the first reading – both of which are accounts of St. Paul’s conversion: Acts of the Apostles 22: 3-16 and Acts of the Apostles 9:1-22.

In both, the Lord says “Get up and go…” Once he says it to Paul. Once he says it to Ananias. They both got up and went.

How about you?

Do you get up and go when told what to do? Are you as docile as Paul and Ananias?

The Lord has great plans for each of us, but… we must listen and obey. We must get up and go!

Are you ready?

Ponder these readings and examine your heart and life — and ask the Lord to make you docile and to use you as effectively as He did Paul and Ananias.

You see, St. Paul is the more renowned of the two, the one who went and preached, evangelized and converted thousands, wrote more than half of the books of the New Testament and has a Feast Day to celebrate his conversion (and another one he shares with St. Peter to celebrate their roles in the establishment of the Church of Christ throughout the world)… But Ananias was also needed.

Paul needed Ananias. The Lord needed Ananias. Both Paul and Ananias had an irreplaceable role to play. The same is true for you and for me. So…

Pray hard! Play well!

The Lord can and will use you mightily if you are docile, listen and obey, get up and go, and at all times do whatever you are told to do!
