Jesus Christ is in every book of the Bible! Come and kneel before Him now!

O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord. This is the refrain to a Christmas hymn with which most of us are familiar. The words expressed in this hymn should be taken to heart every day of our lives, not only during the Christmas Season.

Christ Jesus, our Eucharistic Lord, is really and truly present in every Catholic Tabernacle of the world, and from the Eucharistic Altar comes to us as Real Food and Real Drink, just as He promised in John 6. He wishes to inhabit us, feed us, free us, transform us, and give us a real share in His divine life!

As Pope Benedict XVI has said on this year’s Solemnity of Corpus Christi: “This is the transformation that the world has most need of, because it redeems from within, opening it up to the size of the kingdom of heaven. For God wants to continue to renew humanity, history and the cosmos through this chain of transformations, of which the Eucharist is the sacrament.” Quoting the 5th century theologian St. Augustine to explain the effect the Eucharist has on a person, he added: “I am the food of the strong; grow and you shall feed on me. But you will not convert me into yourself like bodily food, but you shall be changed into me.”

This Eucharistic Jesus is the same God who reveals Himself to us in every book of the Bible! We ought to do just as the Franciscan Friar says repeatedly in the video below: Come and kneel before Him now! We can and must adore Jesus Christ, our Eucharistic Lord. We can and must kneel before Him often and surrender our lives to the God who was, and is, and is to come.

Watch this short video in which the Eucharistic Lord is exposed in a public square as people fall to their knees in adoration, and read the very moving biblical text proclaimed from a megaphone. May the video and text help you recognize, believe, hold to, and share with others all that Christ Jesus is and has for us, and all He has done and can still do for each one of us. Though there may be room for improvement as to the manner in which the Monstance with the Consecrated Host is carried, and although the traditional rubrics for Exposition were not all followed, I still agree with what National Catholic Register contributor Tim Drake wrote in commenting about this videotaped public square exposition: “We desperately need to bring Christ back out into the streets and the marketplaces and the public square.” His transcription of the text recited to the crowd from the megaphone appears below.

I join the Friar in saying clearly and loudly: Jesus Christ is My Redeemer, He is My Savior, He is My God, He is My Priest, He is My Joy, He is My Comfort, He is My Lord, and He rules my life! For this, I am eternally grateful to the One who won my salvation and revealed Himself to me in Sacred Scriptures, Sacred Tradition, and Magisterial teaching – and brought me to Himself through no merit of my own!

Happy Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ – Corpus Christi!
